Using Acupuncture As A Pain Reliever
Posted by adminMay 8
Funny thing about back pain; everybody and his brother is ready to offer a “can’t miss” solution. When lower back pain hits you, and most any suggestions would be welcome; however, 90 percent of the treatment will involve cold or heat packs or a boxful of pain pills, or both. So why don’t we pause for a moment, eschew the prescription drug the doctor is quick to give you, and consider some procedure that was used and worked quite nicely 2,500 years ago in China with no pain addictive pills, and no side effects; just a tiny needle to ease or heal not only the lumbar disc region of your back, but other areas of the spine, as well. It’s called acupuncture. And the use of “needle” acupuncture therapy is no longer the Rodney Dangerfield of the medical profession, (no respect) and over the past several years, 2,000 doctors have boarded the acupuncture back pain treatment train, and are glad they did, because it works.
Learning the acupuncture profession is not an overpowering challenge, and now that this ancient medical wonder treatment has become popular with the mainstream alternative medical profession, the technique is being taught in acupuncture schools in the United States. Now you no longer have to make that slow boat trip to China, Japan, or Korea to join the crowd, get training and licensed, learn the craft, and become part of a career with a promising future.
Acupuncture styles differ in countries like China, Japan, and Korea. The Korean method is using tiny, tiny, needles in a patient’s hand which, in turn sparks effects that can be felt throughout the entire body. This makes the procedure a good choice for lower back pain. On the other hand, the fine needles used by a Japanese acupuncturist barely breaks the skin, limiting any discomfort, and is used mostly in the lumbar disc region of the spine. The Chinese acupuncture method is to use needles that are a bit larger which, when first inserted, may produce a temporary ‘ouch’ pain. To put an end to pain, the evidence continues to pile up about the value of using acupuncture for back pain treatment. Maybe it’s time you took the needle treatment for your aching back.
